Baked French Onion Chicken – Only 4 Ingredients!

This dish is pure cozy comfort: tender chicken baked in a rich, oniony sauce and topped with melty cheese. It captures all the flavor of classic French onion soup but keeps things simple with just a few ingredients. Perfect for busy weeknights, it feels special without any extra effort—just slide it into the oven and let the aroma bring everyone to the table.

Serve it over buttery mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice so the savory juices soak in. For lighter sides, try steamed green beans, a crisp salad, or roasted broccoli. On chilly nights, add crusty bread to mop up the sauce—or shred the chicken for a French onion–style sandwich.

💡 Notes:

  • Searing adds flavor but can be skipped if you’re short on time.
  • Swiss or Gruyère melt best, but mozzarella works in a pinch.
