Unlocking Homemaking Mysteries: Can You Name This Antique Gadget?
The Kwik-Kut Deluxe Food Chopper is a hand crank operated kitchen gadget that is used to chop and mince food efficiently. It was first invented and used in the United States in the early part of the twentieth century and was readily accepted in households by the home makers because of its effectiveness and ease of use.
The Kwik-Kut Deluxe Food Chopper was introduced to the market as a means of making it easier for people to chop and mince vegetables, fruits, nuts and any other food stuffs that may be needed. It is a metallic container with a bladed wheel located inside it. The user then dips the food item to be chopped into the cylinder and then turns a handle which rotates the blades and chops the food to small pieces.
The Kwik-Kut Deluxe Food Chopper has not been without its modifications in its years of production. In the 1930s the device was modified to have a larger base and a longer handle so as to increase the leverage. This device was upgraded again in the 1950s with a plastic handle and a new, slimmer shape.
The chopper is not a new equipment in the kitchen and has been in the market for more than a century now, with the advancement of kitchen appliances and tools, the chopper has slowly faded out and hardly can one see it being used or promoted in advertisements.
Some families have had the Kwik-Kut chopper for generations and still actively use it in the kitchen to this day. Others have received it from their parents but they do not use it as often as the former.
