Ingredients Table

INGREDIENT QUANTITY
Chuck Roast or Stew Meat 2 pounds, trimmed and cubed
All-Purpose Flour 2 tablespoons
Onion 1, diced
Butter 3 tablespoons
Baby Bella Mushrooms 8 ounces, sliced
Worcestershire Sauce 1 tablespoon
Bay Leaf 1
Garlic Powder 1 ½ teaspoons
Sugar 1 ½ teaspoons
Onion Powder 1 teaspoon
Dried Thyme 1 teaspoon
Mushroom Powder 1 teaspoon
Pepperoncini Peppers ½ cup, thinly sliced
Beef Stock 2 cups
Cornstarch mixed with Water 2 tablespoons mixed with a few tablespoons

Slow Cooker Instructions

In the slow cooker, combine 2 cups of beef stock with all ingredients except cornstarch. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 5-7 hours. Thirty minutes before the cook time is over, mix ½ cup of slow cooker liquid with cornstarch until smooth. Add the cornstarch mixture to the slow cooker and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Adjust gravy thickness with water as needed. Season with salt and pepper, then serve over your choice of side.

Instant Pot Instructions

In the Instant Pot, combine 1 ½ cups of beef stock with all ingredients except cornstarch. Select the meat/stew setting and cook on high pressure for 35 minutes. Allow natural pressure release for 10-15 minutes. Switch to ‘sauté,’ dissolve cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water, and add to Instant Pot when bubbling. Thicken the sauce for 1-2 minutes, stirring. Adjust gravy thickness with water. Season with salt and pepper, then serve over your choice of side.

Cooking Experience

Embarking on this culinary adventure promises a delightful experience. The slow cooker method yields tender, flavorful meat, while the Instant Pot ensures a quick and savory outcome. The aroma wafting through your kitchen will build anticipation for a delicious meal ahead.

Tips for Perfecting the Dish

  1. Searing the Meat: For an extra depth of flavor, consider searing the meat before slow cooking or pressure cooking.
  2. Choice of Mushrooms: Experiment with different mushroom varieties for a unique taste and texture.
  3. Adjusting Seasonings: Taste the dish during the cooking process and adjust seasonings to suit your preferences.
