Sugar Snails – If you grew up on cinnamon and sugar toast, you’re going to love the cozy little treats we have for you today. These sugar snails are everything we love about the classic breakfast indulgence, but wrapped up in the perfect snack-able package. They’re made with pantry staples and simple enough you can get the kids involved. It’s the kind of recipe that feels a little nostalgic and just right for a lazy weekend morning or a simple treat to share.
INGREDIENTS
1 loaf white sandwich bread, sliced
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, room temperature
1 egg
3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, melted
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
Cut crusts off bread slices and discard or save for another use.
Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of bread.In a medium-sized bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth, then add egg, and ¼ cup sugar. Mix until fully combined.
Spread cream cheese mixture onto flattened bread, roll up the slice, then cut in half or in thirds. Place rolls seam side down in the prepared baking dish.
Generously brush rolls with the melted butter.
In a small bowl, combine remaining sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over rolls.
Bake for for 15-18 minutes or until golden in color. Serve warm.
