In the world of comfort food, few dishes deliver the same level of satisfaction as potato-and-cheese balls served in a hearty tomato sauce. Blending creamy potatoes with cheddar and a tangy tomato base, this dish transforms simple ingredients into something memorable. Whether offered as a starter, snack, or main dish, these flavorful balls appeal to nearly every palate.

Ingredients
Dough
Chicken breasts: three pieces (900 g total)
Onion: one
Fresh parsley: as needed
Green pepper: one
Red pepper: one
Garlic cloves: three
Black pepper: to taste
Red pepper flakes: to taste
Cumin: to taste
Dried mint: to taste
Salt: to taste
Olive oil: one tablespoon

Filling
Potatoes: four
Cheddar cheese: grated
Black pepper: to taste
Dried mint: to taste
Salt: to taste

Sauce
Tomato purée: one tablespoon
Water: one 200 ml glass
Additional cheddar: as desired

Instructions
Prepare the potatoes:
Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.
Boil until soft, drain, and let cool.

Prepare the dough mixture:
Coarsely chop the onion, peppers, garlic, and parsley.
Combine the chopped vegetables with black pepper, red pepper, cumin, dried mint, salt, and olive oil.

Prepare the chicken:
Finely dice the chicken breasts.
Mix the chicken with the seasoned vegetable blend and coat thoroughly.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the filling:
Mash the cooled potatoes.
Add grated cheddar, then season with pepper, dried mint, and salt. Mix well.

Shape the balls:
Lightly oil your hands.
Shape part of the potato mixture into a ball.
Flatten it, add a small portion of the chicken mix, and wrap the potato around it to form a ball.
Repeat with the remaining mixture.

Make the sauce:
Stir the tomato purée and water together.

Bake:
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
Arrange the balls in a baking dish.
Cover with the tomato sauce.
Bake for about 40 minutes, or until browned and crisp.

Finish:
Scatter extra grated cheddar on top.
Bake for another 15 minutes, until the cheese melts and bubbles.
Serve hot with your preferred side.
