Are you ready to embark on a delightful culinary journey into the world of Butter Biscuits? In this comprehensive guide, we will take you through the process of crafting these delectable treats step by step. So, roll up your sleeves and let’s get baking!

Ingredients:

INGREDIENTS QUANTITY
All-Purpose Flour 2 cups, packed (if using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt)
Baking Powder 1 Tbsp (leave out if using self-rising flour)
Salt ½ tsp (leave out if using self-rising flour)
Butter, salted ½ cup, cut in small pieces (if using unsalted, add ¼ tsp more salt than above)
Milk (regular or buttermilk) 1 cup

Instructions:

    1. Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F.
    2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. If you’re using self-rising flour, omit the baking powder and salt.
    1. Add Butter: Add the small pieces of salted butter to the dry mixture. If you’re using unsalted butter, make sure to add an additional ¼ tsp of salt.
  1. Mix Until Crumbly: With your hands or a pastry blender, combine the flour mixture and butter until the butter is pea-sized and the mixture becomes crumbly.
  2. Incorporate Milk: Pour in the milk (either regular or buttermilk) and combine everything with a wooden spoon until well incorporated. Be cautious not to overmix, as this can make the biscuits tough.
  3. Roll Out the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it out to about ¾ inch thickness.
  4. Cut Out Biscuits: Use a biscuit cutter or a cookie cutter to cut out your biscuits. Place each biscuit on an ungreased cookie sheet or in an iron skillet. Make sure the biscuits are touching for a higher rise during baking.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Bake your biscuits for approximately 10 minutes or until they are beautifully browned.
