My Amish neighbor gave me this recipe. I now prepare it in large batches and freeze it for future use.

Making your own  sweetened condensed milk is an easy way to save money and have full control over the ingredients. This homemade version works perfectly in place of store-bought canned  milk and can be used in all your favorite recipes.

Ingredients:

Butter – 3 tablespoons

Instant dry milk – 1 cup

Sugar – 2/3 cup

Boiling water – 1/3 cup

Instructions:

Combine Ingredients: In a bowl, mix together the butter, instant dry milk, sugar, and boiling water.

Blend Until Smooth: Stir the mixture until well combined, then beat it until it’s creamy and smooth.

Substitute in Recipes: Use this homemade sweetened condensed milk 1:1 in place of canned versions.

Store for Later: Pour any leftover milk into a sealed jar and freeze for a few months.

Pro Tip: For a richer taste, swap in whole milk powder instead of instant dry milk.
