Growing up, our family didn’t have much. This was one of the meals my mama made often—simple, comforting, and full of heart. It taught me so much.
This cozy, satisfying meal brings together tender potato slices and savory shredded chicken, all smothered in a creamy, garlic-kissed sauce. A mix of cheddar and mozzarella guarantees that perfect, melty cheese pull every time.
Oven-Baked Creamy Potato & Chicken Gratin

- Shredded cheese (Cheddar & Mozzarella blend) – 2 cups
- Garlic, minced – 2 cloves
- Salt & black pepper – to taste
- Butter – 1 tbsp (for greasing)
- Fresh chives, chopped – 1/4 cup
Instructions:
Step 1 – Prep Oven & Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a rectangular baking dish with butter to prevent sticking.

Step 3 – Build Layers: Repeat with the remaining potatoes, chicken, and cheese.
Step 4 – Make the Cream: In a small saucepan, warm the heavy cream, milk, and minced garlic over medium heat until fragrant, but don’t let it boil.
Step 5 – Pour & Season: Pour the warm cream over the layers and season generously with salt and pepper.
Step 6 – Bake: Bake for 45–50 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
Step 7 – Garnish & Serve: Let the gratin rest for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with chopped chives. Serve warm and enjoy!
